Life in pro baseball is hard to explain. Do True Yogis Eat Meat? Here’s My Take On The Whole Debate

Image
Am I any less a yogi if I eat meat? I’ve lost count the number of times people who know I’m a yoga teacher and practitioner assume, rather boldly, around meal times that I’m vegan or vegetarian. The truth is, I don’t categorise myself as anything but some may call me a ‘ flexitarian ‘. I’ll generally only buy meat for my partner and his nine year old boy but I eat meat when my body feels pulled to it which is actually rare. However, if I’m at a great restaurant and there’s an irresistible morsel of meat that totally lights up my taste buds at first sight—I’ll have it. Having said that–it depends at what stage you are with your practice, what your priorities are with it and how far you want to take the whole ‘purity’ of yoga thing. Many a yogi will abide to ahimsa which is the practice of non-violence–killing animals being one such an act. Other theories also state that eating meat inhibits us from achieving deep states of meditation. Image: @activeyogi I’m on the less rigid, mor

5 Savvy Scheduling Methods To Use When To-Do Lists Aren’t Hacking It

Image
There’s nothing like buying a new diary at the start of the year to feel motivated, but when it comes to effective time management and scheduling, sometimes old school scrawls don’t cut it. With research suggesting we get interrupted (or asked to switch tasks) at least every three minutes and losing a total average of six hours in productivity a day, it’s fair to say when it comes to smashing goals , we need scheduling systems that we can stick to and that actually speed up our workflow. Cue―the savvy scheduling methods that industry experts swear by. Read on for our curated list of methods to suit your work style. 1.The Time Blocking Method Image: iStock Just as it sounds, this method is all about dedicating set chunks of time to set tasks. To be effective, the times are usually pre-planned before you start the day and keep an eye on the time as you go. The key tip here is to pay attention to the ‘proactive’ and ‘reactive’ blocks and prioritise accordingly. Proactive blocks

Struggling with textures on weight watchers

Hi guys! Just wanting some advice really. I’m not really a fussy eater with flavours, but what I do struggle with is the textures of some foods. I’ve noticed that with weight watchers I’m struggling with the textures of beans/pulses. I’d rather not eat them, but they make up such a massive part of the bulking/point free part of the diet. Has anyone got any tips? It’s the waxy texture I think! submitted by /u/Phie_cox [link] [comments] from Proven weight loss success since 1963...now with 10% more Oprah https://ift.tt/2I39Z5g

New Job, tips?

I've been unemployed for the past 6 months,so I've been able to put more focus into weight loss. Now, that hasn't exactly HELPED me, but having a flexible schedule has been nice. I start a new job tomorrow. One of the biggest things that has impacted my weight loss in the past has been work. So, I am a little nervous about throwing in and adjusting to a new routine. To start, I am working Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm. My schedule may change, but at the latest, I'd be working 11am to 7pm. I have no idea when I'll have a lunch break or even if I'll get an actual break. It may be that I have to grab bites to eat when things are slow. I also have no idea what the accomodations are for food storage/heating. Tomorrow, I am bringing pasta salad in my insulated lunch box with an ice pack. If I find that I can heat food, that will certainly give me more options in the future; if not, I will need to either become more creative or invest in a nice thermos. The good

Here’s How To Meal Prep For The Healthiest Week Ever

Image
You’ll have heard it time and time again, but failing to prepare really is preparing to fail. Whether it’s for exams, a spray tan (we’re looking at you, exfoliation-haters) or your health and fitness goals, there’s no denying that preparation is key to success. Spending an hour or two in the kitchen on a Sunday will equip you with an array of easily-accessible meals for a productive week, and your wallet will be eternally grateful that you’re giving it some much needed rest from UberEATS. Absence does make the heart grow fonder, right? Because let’s face it, even if you have the best of intentions, we all know that (even ‘healthy’) take-away restaurants are notorious for adding unnecessary salt, sugar and inflammatory oils to your well-meaning menu choice. Pre-preparing your meals at home allows you to simply have control over everything you choose to fuel your bod with – and it doesn’t have to be as complicated as you think:  1. Be flexible It’s unlikely that you’ll need to pr

Plateau Madness!

Hi guys! Long time lurker, first time poster. Running into a bit of a wall and getting pretty frustrated. I started my WW journey about a year ago and have lost 40ish lbs. I’m feeling pretty good, but since last summer I’ve only lost about 15 lbs- up and down a pound or two a week. It’s maddening. I thought that maybe I needed to up my workout routine, so the past three weeks I’ve been doing pure Barre almost every day. I’m starting to see and feel the change of my body but the scale is staying the same- if not going up a pound or two. I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but I can’t imagine three weeks is making that much of a difference. I’m just kind of desperate for some quantifiable victories, ya know? I want to lose about 30 more lbs and at this rate it will take me 7 years. Any advice would be so helpful and appreciated. You all inspire me! Love to all! submitted by /u/NotThatKindOfFamous [link] [comments] from Proven weight loss success since 1963...now with 10

Starting on Monday

Hello, new friends! I signed up for the online program on Thursday and have been researching and planning the last couple days, I went grocery shopping tonight and am going to work on meal prep tomorrow. Fully starting tracking points and all on Monday. The first of the month being a Monday feels like a good omen to me! I have a good 50lbs to lose, which is daunting. I feel ready but I’m nervous to fail. I did intermittent fasting last year and only managed to lose 15lbs in 6 months. I would lose 1-2lbs during the week and sabotage myself on weekends often resulting in gaining and losing the same few lbs for a couple weeks before I managed to slowly shave off 15. I’m hoping that weeklies will help with that this go around. How many pounds did you all lose in your first week? How many the first month? Any word of encouragement? Thanks! Looking forward to the support system here. submitted by /u/YIKES2722 [link] [comments] from Proven weight loss success since 1963...now
